Hail to One and All from Baron Caieth!

For those who were not able to make it to Grimwithshire's Tourney of the
Wolves this Saturday, I'd like to offer a brief report on a great event.

The weather was at times beautiful and at times foul, the setting in
Northeast Washington austere in its winter grandeur. We had nearly 20 fighters,
largely thanks to gracious folk who were willing to travel, many from as far as
Portland.

The list was a toughie - Their Graces Gunnar, Sven and Amalric annointed the
field, as well as His Excellency Ulfred and numerous members of the
Chivlary. Duke Sven took the day, his third consecutive win at Wolves, while
Gernaut was awarded Most Chivalrous by Her Grace Gabrielle.

Within the hall, games were played and various A&S pursuits enjoyed. It
would be impossible to list all the folk who came to share their skills and
generosity; a joyful sense of camaraderie pervaded the event. I would like to
single out the Feast-o-crat, Lady Arnora, and all of her able assistants for
putting on a most amazing spread of period, tasty faire.

A half a dozen folk entered the Bardic Championship - Huzzah to them! The
victors were a 4 girl troupe of Celtic Highland Dancers ala River Dance that
delighted the Populace and were awarded the Championship Cloak to an encore
performance. If I am not mistaken, it was their first SCA event, but hopefully
not their last.

Congratulations to all those folk whose efforts were recognized before the
Ducal and Baronial Thrones. Thanks also and Welcome to all for whom this was
their first SCA event (they probably don't get these emails, so if you know
any of them please pass it along).

Lastly, if you have never had a chance to make it up to Grimwithshire, you
will rarely find a group who is better organized or works harder to put on
great events, despite the fact that their overall numbers are small and their
location remote to the point of making Coeur D'Alene look like a Metropolis.
Sir Tighearnach, Lady Rioghnach and Sir Guy, Grimwithshire is lucky to have
you, as is the Inlands.

On to Oasis War! Hope to see many of you there.

Cheers!

Caieth
