Begging all of your pardons....
I just wanted to remind anyone who's interested that planning is going on
for SpoCon (www.spocon.us), 1 - 3 Aug 2008, on the Gonzaga University
campus.
Since I'm also on the Convention Committee, I wanted to make sure that you
were all aware, in case the Barony had any interest in pursuing anything
with this convention. :-)
The next convention committee meeting will be next Sunday, 2 March, at 3:00
PM on the second floor of the Admin Building at Gonzaga (I can't remember
the conference room name, but it shouldn't be difficult to find). Some time
ago, a committee had been created to coordinate with SpoCon, but much has
gone on in the Barony since then, and I think that the parties originally
selected may have moved out of the area.....
I know that the Realms of Avalon and The Adrian Empire organizations are
both planning to have a presence at the convention. I wanted to make sure
that, if the interest was still there, the SCA didn't get left out....
There will be lots of green space available (with a small lake), and we're
checking on rules regarding folks overnighting that set up merchant tents or
demos. The indoor space for the convention is amazing as well.
As the Guest/Pro Liaison (shared with my wife, Char), I won't personally
have an opportunity to represent the SCA's interests at the meetings, so
would encourage you to have someone do so, or at least to get in touch with
the Programming Chair, should there be any interest in participating as a
group.
Of course, individual volunteers are always welcome, and I can guarantee
would be appreciated :-)
If you have any questions, let me know. I can either answer them, or find
someone who can. The website (www.spocon.us) also has contact and other
information that might be of use/interest.
Thanks!
Randy Mac Kay
(One of these days, I'll finally come up with a persona and name... LOL ).
