[Twnsqr] OT: drugs for Kitty?

Okay, here's the story: My boyfriend has been adopted by a stray cat who is, for lack of any better word, disgusting. He'd be a beautiful Siamese if he didn't have some horrendous infection of the eyes, nose, and throat. All Scruffy wants is love, but whenever we pet him, we feel the need to wash up afterwards, for fear of getting some dread disease (or worse, giving something to MY cat!). To take him to the vet would be at least $100, which is an awful lot for a stray. We did give him a week's worth of Amoxicillin that I got from a friend (you know who you are, thanks, sweetie!), and Scruffy seemed to improve; but a week wasn't enough, and now he's getting worse again.

So, the request - is there any of you out there with some Eurythromiacin capsules that you'd be willing to donate? It's either that, or we take the cat to the shelter - and who's going to adopt a sneezy, wheezy, mucus-eyed cat? If we can get him healthy again, he might become an indoor cat before winter sets in; I'm afraid of what his chances would be if he had to stay outside in the snow. If anyone can help with this, please email me off-list.

  Thanks, good gentles,
  Hanicka/Heidi
