Your Barony wants you!
 
It takes many people to keep our Barony as great as it  is.  Now is your 
chance to actively help us stay great.  The Barony of  Wealdsmere has several 
officer positions open and this just might be the  position you have been waiting 
for!
 
Chirurgen
Do you enjoy helping others?  Are you good at keeping  calm in potentially 
stressful situations?  Do you know first aid or are  willing to learn?  Then 
Chirurgeon is for you!  The Chirurgeon  (pronounced kie-RUR-jun) is the medical 
advisor to the branch, the person with  medical training who stands by at 
events to render first aid as needed. If you  are interested in providing first 
aid, contact Seneschal to discuss becoming a  warranted Chirurgeon.
 
Constable
Do you like taking long  walks?  Talking to others?  Do you like wandering 
from encampment to  encampment?  Then Constable is for you!  The Constable is 
the officer  in charge of keeping order at an event. He is in charge of 
security: He makes  sure no underage drinking is going on; he assists with security, 
the gate. He is  also the keeper of the Lost and Found.
 
Gold Key
Do you like talking to  strangers?  Are you handy with a needle and thread as 
well as laundry  detergent?  Then Gold Key is for you!  Wealdsmere maintains 
a  collection of loaner costumes and gear which is available to assist 
newcomers -  including people who have just stopped by to see what all the people in 
the  funny clothes are up to - to blend in and feel comfortable in the group. 
For a  small fee (to cover the cost of cleaning), the Gold Key officer will 
rent  costumes so that new people can fit in and feel good while they learn more 
about  us.
 
Herald
Do you have a strong, clear  voice?  Do you enjoy knowing the schedule of the 
day at an event?  Do  you enjoy doing research?  Do you like helping others 
design emblems that  represent them?  Then the position of the Branch Herald is 
for you!   The Branch Herald is called the Three Oaks Pursuivant. He or she 
may have  several duties. He or she can serve as the Voice of the Baron and 
Baroness (as a  public address system). He/she may also serve as a Town Crier, 
serving to  'spread the word' at local events for what may be happening where 
and when. A  major service that is offered by the Branch Herald is assistance in 
developing  individual Coats of Arms and submitting arms and names for 
registration with the  College of Heralds.
 
Master of Swords
Do you enjoy rapier  fighting?  If not, do you enjoy watching rapier 
fighting?  Then Master  of Sword is for you!  The Master of Sword is in charge of 
rapier fighting  within the branch. He or she must be a junior marshal of fence; 
the Master of  Sword makes sure that protection is up to standard and that 
rapier or sword  fighting is safe.
 
Lists
Do you enjoy watching the fighting  on the field?  Are you good at keeping 
track of information?  Then  Lists is for you!  The Lists Mistress/Master serves 
as a scorekeeper of  tournaments and battles, recording wins and losses for 
each fighter in  tournaments and army in wars.
 
Waterbearer
Do you enjoy watching the  fighting?  Do you enjoy being out among the 
fighters earning their undying  devotion and gratitude?  Are you good at organizing 
a small group of  workers?  Then Waterbearer is for you!  The Waterbearer 
works with the  Master of Stables, the Master of Swords and the Chirurgeon. His or 
her duty  entails making sure that the fighters on the field, be they armored 
or rapier,  are getting enough to drink, to prevent dehydration, and are 
keeping their  temperature down. Fighting in the SCA is made as safe as possible; 
we don't want  heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
